Prof. Dr. habil. Alexander Löser conducts research and teaching in the areas of Database Systems and Text-based Information Systems  at Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin since September 2013. He is also a founding member of the Data Science Research Group of our university and member in the ERCIM EU Expert Group on Big Data Analytics.

Previous stations are HP Labs Bristol, IBM Almaden Research Center the research division of the SAP AG and the Technische Universität Berlin

His research interests include:  In-database Text Mining, Web Scale Analytics, and Information marketplaces.

Alexander published over 50 refereed scientific papers in prestigious international conferences and journals, held more than 70 invited talks and holds 3 granted patents. His research has been incorporated into the commercial product IBM Lotus Notes and SAP HANA. Alexander serves on the editorial boards and program committees of international journals and conferences in the areas of data management and data mining

The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology awarded his work on the first data market for the .DE Web 'MIA Marktplatz' in 2011, twice in 2014 for ExCELL and Smart Data Web and again in 2015 for MACSS. Over the course of his career, Alexander lead or contributed to various projects funded by EC, such as  EDUTELLA, SWAP, OKKAM, SCAPE, ROBUST and DOPA.

Alexander recieved his Master from HTW Berlin in 2002, his Ph.D. from TU Berlin in 2005 at the DFG Graduate School of Distributed Information Systems (GKVI) and his Habilitation (Lehrbefugnis für das Fach Angewandte Informatik) from TU Berlin in 2013.
